Votre profil

  • Design and implement services that Bioinformatics & Data Science will use to start and monitor their algorithms
  • Find the most suitable Azure services for specific problems
  • Design and integrate Azure APIs. Develop monitoring tools for the Data Science clusters and workflows
  • Enhance SOPHiA Genetics Data Catalog

Education & Working experience

  • Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Computer Science or Engineering or Bioinformatics or equivalent professional experience
  • 4+ years working on full stack applications with preference on the following technologies
    • Backend: Python, NextJS (Node) or Java
    • Frontend: React or Angular
    • DevOps experience: Gitlab CI/CD and kubernetes
    • Cloud: Azure
  • Preferably experienced in working in domains of data science/bioinformatics and working in healthcare regulations (GxP, IVD).

  • Autonomous work. You should be able to attack a problem on your own with the help of your team.
  • User centric. You need to create usable applications for our internal users.
  • Analytical thinking. You should always think on how to optimize an issue.

Our mission is to bring data analytics solutions to market, to support healthcare professionals by maximizing the power of Data-Driven Medicine. SOPHiA GENETICS (NASDAQ: SOPH) combines collective intelligence in Genomics, Radiomics, clinical research data, the DDM -Data-Driven Medicine,we can ensure that the data used to help patients today will also benefit the patients of tomorrow.

We observed that across the healthcare ecosystem, a vast amount of digital healthcare data is being generated, fuelled by technologies such as next-generation sequencing ("NGS"). This data holds promise to accelerate our understanding of biology and disease.
 

In our journey to contribute to the company mission on patients lives, we are looking for a Data Engineer to join our Data Engineering Team!

The Data Engineering Team specifies, designs, implements and maintains data-centric systems that are vital for several business processes of the Data Science department.

As a Data Engineer you will directly collaborate with other software engineers, bioinformaticians, product managers and laboratory technicians to gather requirements and transform them into efficient analytical applications. Modelling of genomic information and the design, implementation and optimisation of algorithms to process biological data represent some of the main activities of the team.
Additionally, you will be involved in the design and development of data-centric processes, as well as in their integration with existing information systems (e.g. LIMS).
All such systems are subject to rigorous design, verification and validation processes in order to meet software medical device regulations such as ISO 62304, FDA 21 CFR 820.30 and EU IVD.

Note: this position does not involve data analyst-related activities such statistical analysis or application of machine-learning methods.

 

 

Votre profil

Requirements

  • PhD in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field or Master and equivalent working experience (3 years or more);
  • Solid knowledge of the algorithmic (e.g. analysis of time/space complexity, data structures) and database (e.g. relational systems, ISO SQL or DBMS-specific SQL) domain;
  • Proficient in more than one general purpose programming languages (e.g. Java, C/C++, Python, etc.);
  • Good knowledge of the domain of software engineering, especially of design patterns and architectures;
  • Academic-level knowledge of design of experiments and statistical methods (including Statistical Process Control, test of hypotheses – ANOVA, non-parametric tests-, main effect and multi-vari analysis, Response Surface Analysis, linear regression) is a plus;
  • Good knowledge of Unix/Linux development environments;
  • Analytical mindset and attitude to logical formalisation;
  • Full professional proficiency in English;
  • Good writing and oral communication skills;
  • Good teamwork skills and autonomy.

Requirements

Mission:

  • As a Principal Software Engineer, you will be the technical lead of a team of Engineers focused on developing web-modules and their microservices powering a multi-modal digital healthcare platform.
  • Our platform is a one-of-a-kind globally distributed information system that brings together hospitals and labs to provide data ingestion and processing, analysis, and modeling, reporting and intelligence, distribution and sharing of a multitude of complex sources of structured and unstructured data, including genomics, imaging, and clinical data, delivered as a multi-tenant SaaS platform on the cloud.
  • You will be performing end-to-end delivery of web-modules on our digital platform, guiding a team of engineers with best practices, and helping make architectural decision as part of our Software Development Lifecycle. This will include design, implementation, testing, documentation, deployment, maintenance, and support of the services and other projects owned by the team.
  • You will be responsible for the design of individual components of these modules and will collaborate daily with product owners and senior technical staff outside of the team.
  • You will participate in the evaluation of new technologies and implement POCs for future modules.
  • You will actively participate in code and design reviews with other members of the team.
  • As needed for your projects, you will participate in estimations and risk assessments, and exchange with stakeholders in Product and Project Management and other departments.
  • You will participate in the team’s recurring activities and help organize them. You will share your knowledge of best practices in the team and support more junior team members.

 

 

Requirements:

  • You have demonstrated experience in developing reliable and performant full-stack applications and have a firm grasp on the underlying challenges of releasing a web module to production.
  • You have a basic understanding of the domain of genomics and digital healthcare and care for the impact you can have in this field.
  • You know modern software engineering processes, have good knowledge of tools, technologies, and best practices.
  • You seek to exchange regularly and communicate effectively with other members of your team.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering or equivalent professional experience
  • 8+ years’ experience in the software engineering field.
  • Demonstrated experience working on Service-Oriented Architectures, Microservices, and APIs,
  • Strong knowledge of Java, JavaScript/Typescript, and other languages,
  • Good knowledge of front-end framework like React, Vue.js, NextJs,
  • Good knowledge of modern DevOps tools,
  • Good knowledge of modern scalable database technologies and SQL,
  • Good knowledge of software engineering best-practices, Agile, CI/CD, testing frameworks, BDD, TDD, ...
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills,
  • Excellent level of English, French mandatory
  • Knowledge of GraphQL is a plus
  • Experience with containerization (Docker, ...) and orchestration (Kubernetes, ...) technologies is a plus,
